John 16:20-22
I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the
world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman
giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby
is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into
the world. So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and
you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
Words from a Man who knew He was going to die. He wanted us
to know that we had something more to look forward to than this world. He
wanted us to know that there is a time in our future when pain and grief will
no longer exist and won't exist for us again. On a TV show I watched recently
one of the characters was talking about a time when she had terrible poison ivy
where it even hurt to be touched or to scratch. Her mother just told her that
every time it burned or hurt... that very second... she was one heartbeat
closer to the time when it wouldn't hurt anymore. She said "Hold On...
This won't last forever."
Hold
on... This won't last forever.
